Westminster Archdiocese Christmas Masses......

.....The largest Diocese in England and Wales (in terms of population) with more than 200 parishes.......

...but only 2 Latin Masses on Christmas Day.......that's two!

And that is also a disgrace, Archbishop Mennini, please note; the faithful may have as many homosexual Masses as they want but, as for a Traditional Latin Mass......

An extract from Westminster's website:

"E.F. Schumacher the author of Small is Beautiful, once recalled how, on a visit to Leningrad, he consulted a street map but could not make out where he was. 'I could see several enormous churches, yet there was no trace of any of them on my map.' He had a map: but no bearings. Communist Russia treated churches as though they did not exist".

(my version of that)

Well, we have a situation, in our capital city, London, where there are many churches and, they are marked on a map - but there is little trace of a Latin Mass at this most vital time of the year. Modernist Westminster treats Latin Masses as though they do not exist!

Here are all the Masses listed for Christmas, courtesy of the Latin Mass Society (there are some Diocese without any):- See also LMS Find a Mass

  1. Not really wanting to throw a spanner in the works Richard but Re- Clifton, you have missed out the Latin services at St Saviours. Christmas Mass at Midnight, 8am and 10am. St Agnes Avenue, Bristol, BS4 2DU. Those who belong to the LMS and view the SSPX society, who say Mass each Sunday at their church, as out of the fold are as stubborn as Protestants who think they are the true church when anyone can see that the line goes back beyond what they have now and with out what went before they would not be in existence.
We are hoping to have a sung Mass but failing this there will be a choir who will sing carols and Christmassy joyful hymns.

  2. Possibly you might add a 9am Low Mass at Brighton, under A&B, are there really as many in my diocese than Westminster?

  3. In Birmingham don't forget the Oratory whose Solemn Mass of Christmas Day is EF. By the way, an OF Latin Mass is still a Latin Mass, and in the dark days when the Old Rite was all but proscribed, we were very grateful for it.

  4. What is the point of the latin mass society running training courses for priests when none of them follow up with celebrating the mass.

  5. Fr Ray, Momangelica, John Nolan - the list that I posted was that of the Latin Mass Society's and I am sure they will accept your good corrections and amend accordingly. Nicholas, you make a good point but maybe it's a case of not shooting the trainer....many of those priests will have to face severe pressures from on high (no, not that on High)if they try to celebrate the Latin Mass in their Diocese. We need to reach a tipping point before they come across fully.
