Don't let ACTA get away with it

You would be forgiven for believing that there is a massive groundswell of opinion in the pews that calls not just for change but for a drastic re-configuration of Catholic doctrine.

That is not the case. The British branch of ACTA has, allegedly 1500 'active' members.

I am uncertain as to what ACTA means by 'active' but, I shall be charitable and guess that they mean card carrying members.

But, any group that bangs on about women priests and women conducting "communion services" and other such matters, really needs to do some navel gazing to determine whether they are on the right bus.

As an ex PR man I can testify to the fact that, if you shout a message loud and hard, it will, in time, be believed by the masses (not a ploy that I used, I hasten to add).

Therefore, this group needs to be challenged, in a charitable way, before they gain acceptance through apathy and ignorance.

They are due to meet with Bishop Egan on March 6th (in an earlier post I quoted from ACTA's minutes of a meeting when they expressed disappointment at Bishop Egan closing the door to them. Now I am pleased that he is going ahead with a meeting as the ACTA regional team need to be told a few home truths, and + Egan is the man for the job).

So, please email His Lordship at  bishop@portsmouthdiocese.org.uk and respectfully request that, when he meets with ACTA he bans them from using Diocesan premises for any of their meetings.

Let's nip it in the bud.

And, while we are at it, please write to your own bishop asking that ACTA be barred from using Church premises.

  1. At the meeting in A&B yesterday they told people that anyone who attends a meeting is marked down as an ACTA member!

  2. So all those who go along to find out what their agenda is are now classified as ACTA members? They must be a little desperate.

  3. Deacon nick Donnelly is doing a great job of exposing this opposition group's nefarious activities.

  4. I can't find anything on their website saying precisely what they want action on. I couldn't go to the A&B meeting yesterday (Wednesday lunchtime -- what a silly time for a meeting!) in order to find that out. But I wouldn't be signed up unless I agreed with whatever it is.

    1. Andrew, apparently, mere attendance is enough for you to be classified as a member.

  5. Bishop Conry, according to the PP who hosted the A&B meeting on Weds, feels this particular group have the right to meet until they forfeit the right by something they do or say. The PP says he is therefore being obedient to the Bishop, although Father is aware that this group has projects that are not of the Church.

    1. Why am I not surprised Annie? Quite what more ACTA can say is beyond me. Open dissent is open dissent. Prayers for A & B.

    3. I agree that ACTA have the right to meet.

What I don't agree with is that they have the right to meet on Church property with newsletters describing themselves as "diocese approved"

I wonder, if the SSPX wanted to host a meeting in A&B to discuss Vatican II - would Bishop Conry support them? Would it be happy with them describing themselves as "diocese approved"

  6. In my view this association is inspired by satan. I say this because we have now passed through a long period where many people (up to 40+) do not understand what it means to be a Catholic. This is due to many things including faulty catechesis in catholic school. I say it is of the devil because I am an exorcist and I am constantly coming up against areas of weakness in people - and in the Church - that are now being exploited viciously by the enemy. Some people will regard this comment as OTT but I can assure you it is not. Anyone who doubts this is welcome to come to see me and sit in on one of the deliverance sessions I conduct or talk to some of the people I have to help. Bad catechesis is one of the major problems we have had to deal with - and are still dealing with - in the Church. it goes alongside secularism and materialism and the idolatry of entertainment.

  7. Dear Linen on the Hedgerow

Thank you for writing on this issue.

Thanks to Fr. Abberton for calling it as it is too.

We recall that, in America, Call to Action was resisted with a Call to Holiness movement.

May we propose this begins here with 'A Call to Holiness Rosary Crusade'? For now, each person could simply begin to pray a Rosary each day for the Church in the UK to be defended against this internal turmoil and for the True Faith to prevail.

  8. Thank you Torch of the Faith, I have added you to my blogroll. Yes, Fr Abberton is a great strength to us in the UK. I like your Rosary Crusade concept. God bless.

  9. ACTA has popped up again in the A & B. On the A & B website it states that there will be 'a series of meetings organized by ACTA at the request of Bishop Kieran.' I am tempted to attend one although from what I have read I would not wish to be classed among the membership!
