Today we celebrate Bastille Day!

Yes, we celebrate all those innocent Catholics who were murdered for their faith and we celebrate, in particular those brave men, women and children from the Vendee region who were loaded into barges, battened down and taken out midstream into the river while the barges were scuttled so that all on board perished.
More than 300,000 souls were martyred in the Vendee alone. Vive la Vendee!

Vive la Vendee!

I once attended a Mass celebrated by the late and very great Fr Crowdy on Bastille Day and he gave a stirring sermon on the evils of the Revolution and how it sowed the seeds of communism into the world. Here is a video clip focusing on the Vendee Catholics.
