More than ever I feel the need of having Thee close to me.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
Corinthians 12:7-10
I think it is this kind of posting that gives traditionalist Catholics a bad name. We have a hard enough job, Richard, without this kind of of hyperbole, We support your catholic agenda, but not your paranoid musings.
Some of us are fighting real battles, not intellectual ideological battles on a keyboard. May God Bless you.
Why not pray for those of us in the front line, fighting the very battles you have so much time to articulate ? I can assure you, we would appreciate it......
I was going to say to Richard that he must have been talking to my family! The arguments I have had over my mantilla or travelling to attend a Latin mass...
These pictures are, in some cases, only slight exaggerations and I'm 24, not a teenager!
Rhos, I am the youngest of seven. We all grew up with the Latin Mass. Now, those that survive are avid liberals and are at odds with my choice. Sadly, we never now discuss religion.
Richard, I think this is a very positive posting. We are surrounded by many so-called Catholics, fallen away Catholics, who's children, God Willing, will be searching their Catholic roots........these baptized in the holy Church, fallen Catholics....... will recognize the 'scapular', they will remember how the Gregorian Chant sounds like, they will remember that yes, before the 50 year old Novus Ordo, there was Latin Mass......centuries old, a time when Catholic women wore the mantilla to Church...... They will 'sigh' deeply, trembling........ they will marvel and wonder.......'Is this how Catholics 'still' worship God?'......Is it possible? Lord, is this where and how You want us to worship?........
My Lord, My God......forgive my cold heart, my blindness, my ignorance......!
It is an interesting comment you have made Richard. There is a deep struggle going on at present in the Western World for the minds of young people. The minds of the "oldies", well they are already, I suppose, made up?
I don't think Christianity, the Catholic Church is doing particularly well at present and I suspect, but maybe I'm just a pessimist, that things are going to get worse. I'm sure, as the Pope Emeritus said, we are going to have to accept a smaller Church for some time.
Those of us who believe in the Church, in Continuity, will just have to press on!
Regarding the analogy with the Protestant Reformation, many Catholics, circa 1550, must have felt the same way - but then we had Trent and the Counter Reformation, so we musn't be too downhearted!
Hilarious! Thanks for sharing. Other signs of dabbling in Tradition are that your teenagers come home reeking of incense and their speech is peppered with Latin phrases like "nihil obstat" and "pro multis".
Well, unfortunately it is rather one in 500,000 teenagers...
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm proud to be one of them! ;)

Happy Advent.
You must have read a different post to the one I did! Thanks for the light relief from our suffering, Mr Linen.
DeleteAnd thank you Lynda for your constant support, it is greatly appreciated.

DeleteI'm the youngest of seven as well! What a coincidence.
DeleteIt's so sad when you can't share some as joyous as the Catholic faith with those you love :( The Divine Mercy chaplet is very useful, mind!
Oona, please re-read this post again. I found it to be mildly humourous and not at all reprehensible.

Oh, Mary Mother of God, save us, lest we perish!
I loved this post! Thanks so much for all your efforts and postings. God bless you and a blessed Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThis was quite funny/ Smart to use the gift of humor against those who don't like us.

Thank you all but the credit for this post belongs, of course, to Catholic Memes.
ReplyDeleteThe above is the big brother voice of the 'spirit' of vatican ii; funny and terribly sad because it's right on the station.

ReplyDeleteAnon @2.04, excellent, thank you.
