Thousands of Australians have been made homeless by the floods that have swept across Queensland and Victoria and now fires rage across the bush in Western Australia.
The damage is estimated to run into billions of dollars and, of course, there has been personal tragedy unfolding with lives lost.
If it was Bangladesh or Senegal or Thailand that was suffering, the posters would be up in the banks by now......fundraising would be in full swing and the support agencies working overtime sending out survival materials and foodstuffs.
But Australia, who came to our aid in World War 1 and 2, who stood by us in crisis after crisis, who aligned themselves with US Forces in Vietnam and who are with us today in Afghanistan.....is offered nothing but tea and sympathy.
Reports from a Chinese news agency claim that over 100 countries have offered their support so far...but where is it? What has Great Britain offered and the USA? It looks pretty invisible to me.
Christian charity knows no boundaries, white or black, developed or developing - all qualify for our prayers and cash.
So, what about it OXFAM, CAFOD and all the rest?

Richard: Wow. That shot across the bows should also be aimed at us (with a capital US) across the Pond as well. The Aussies have been great allies of ours, too. Thanks for the wake-up.
