More than ever I feel the need of having Thee close to me. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong. Corinthians 12:7-10

We lose our bid for the World Cup - sob!
What a tragedy, England has been outrun in the bid to host the next World Cup by Russia (of all places).
That means no mindless chanting on the terraces, no drunken lager louts terrorising the population, no vast sums of cash spent on building new stadia (now it can go into the Education budget or any budget for that matter as long as it's not football related).
Whew, a bit of a rant I know but I reflect on the saying: "Football is a game for gentlemen played by hooligans while Rugby is a game for hooligans played by gentlemen" - and it's true!

we didnt need to build any stadiums, thats why our bid should have won on merit, practicality, and sheer profesionalism. We wuz robbed, but money in the form of Russion oligarchs and Quatari oil money (how are they going to air-condition stadiums?) won in the face of common sense.
