"Francisan? This way please" |
More than ever I feel the need of having Thee close to me. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong. Corinthians 12:7-10

The Franciscans go to Hell but the Dominicans are en route to Heaven
The Dominican artist Fra Angelico painted the very famous 'Last Judgement' showing certain well known Franciscans tumbling towards hell while the Dominicans, headed upward to Heaven.
That appeals to my sense of humour but then I was educated by Dominicans. Just a little friendly rivalry!

That reminds me of another famous rivalry...
ReplyDeleteWhat goes "black-white-black-white-black-white-bump"?
...A Dominican falling down the stairs.
What is black and goes "tee-hee-hee"?
...The Jesuit that pushed him...
I couldn't help laughing. Anyway. I was prepared for my First Communion by a franciscan, a saintly man who, we heard, was murdered by guerilla people in Angola - where I was born and lived until my teen years.
ReplyDeleteAbout the dominicans: my girls studied, for some years, in a convent school run by them. They were very nice and (almost) always wear their habits, what we cant't say about other nuns in a near by convent who, most of them don't wear it, only the real old ones.(dorotheans)
