Shaking the bucket...for abortions!

A £10 donation to Virgin Money Giving's anti life fund
will support the killing of lots more of these cell type things
some people call babies

Now who would wish to donate money to support organisations such as BPAS, the abortion service that specialises in killing infants in the womb (plus counselling, of course)?

It appears that, some people are willing to throw a bit of cash in that direction even though, BPAS is not apparently short of a pound or two.

A certain James Ball has got the bucket shaking for BPAS because, in his words, women are intimidated by the 40 Days for Life campaigners outside abortuaries.

Let me say this once more....women are intimi....OK, I know you got the message, it was my brain that was struggling to comprehend it.

I have been on a few 40 Day vigils in the past five years and I have never witnessed a woman being terrorised as she enters the 'clinic'.

What I have seen is a lot of women terrorised by those who support the murder of babies and by so called Young Thugs Socialists.
They are not above threatening men also and it grieves me to think that I have signed up to the vigil organiser's protocol that states that all aggro must be met with a smile and Christian charity.

I still believe that Christian charity should be dished out Don Camillo fashion.

But I am, of course, wrong.

A fixed smile hides rising blood pressure but I pray through it all (and for the thugs) and it passes off, like water on a duck's back.

Now, we live, allegedly, in a free country, and it is entirely up to the individual to donate, or not, to whichever charity they wish.

But BPAS is a business, you might just as well give cash to Barclays Bank or Marks and Spencers, I'm sure they would welcome it but the fact is, they don't need it.

And, in the case of BPAS, surely they don't deserve it.

Their CEO, Ann Furredi, naturally enough, welcomes the bung; in fact, such spontaneous generosity often leaves her in tears.

Here is what she says about Mr Ball's enterprise:

"I just want to say a really BIG thanks for your donation page. – and, of course to donors. The comments are just amazing. The whole thing has actually reduced some of us to reaching for tissues! I guess it’s a bit novel for people to be so spontaneously generous to us.  It sends a lovely message to all our staff. We are feeling the love!"

“We are feeling the love”……..aah, isn’t that just so very nice?

Much nicer than “We are feeling the scalpel”

Fundraising has now stopped but will, almost certainly start again when the next vigil commences.

When it does, some people might like to leave a message (a charitable one) on their Facebook page ‘Boycott the 40 Days for Life’

Dateline London

A two day visit to London on business meant that I could join the Bedford Square 40 Days for Life Vigil on Monday for a little over one hour.

A young man (Jan) was in charge and, in the course of my watch I met Kathy (signing off), Gerald, a philosophy student and Daniel, a French expatriate.

Given that, what the Japanese call "comfort" breaks had to be taken, we were really pretty thin on the ground and more people are needed to register for the remainder of the vigil days. Even if you can only manage 15 or 30 minutes, it will aid the cause tremendously. You can register online HERE.

Jan explained that he had counselled one Nigerian woman that day. She already had one infant and was now pregnant for a second time.
She did not want to abort her child but she was under intense pressure from her parents to do so.
It appears that this is so often the case; the woman wishes to bear the child but the father/parent/'good' friend pushes them into it.

As Jan said: "It is the mother who will carry the burden of pain and anguish, not the parents".

He added that he had offered the woman all the material support and counselling help she might need if she decided to keep the baby.

A priest led us in the Rosary and it turned out that he was no other than the PP of St Patrick's Soho Square, Fr Alexander Sherbrooke. We chatted for a few minutes and when I told him that we and many others in Wales, travelled 70 miles one way to attend a Latin Mass on a Sunday he looked rather bemused.
A hard concept to grasp if you run a city parish.

After my shift I made my way to Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane for the evening Sung Mass and to join Catherine, my youngest daughter there.

En route, I found myself in Soho Square so I called in to St Pat's and lit a candle at the Pieta for family and friends and all bloggers and readers.

On to Corpus Christi, a real haven of peace in an increasingly insane world. Sitting in the church listenening to the shrieks and guffaws coming from outside I was reminded of Belloc's lines:

How I hate the human race
How I hate its silly face

At least, I think they belong to Belloc, someone will put me right no doubt.

The Mass itself was pretty mind blowing; a Requiem mass for the soul of Fr Henty Dodd.

The all male choir were impressive and, although I normally like to hear female altos and sopranos, it was a very professional and moving delivery.
Among the altar servers I spotted one MC from the hallowed ground of Blackfen (he who must be obeyed at the twitch of an eyebrow) plus the usual London gang.

After Mass Catherine and I met up with one of the aristocrats of the blogging world who had been in the congregation. None other than the Marquis of Yns Mon himself.

The three of us trundled off to the now famous Coal Hole, favoured haunt of Frs T & Z when in town.

As it was Lent we sank a number of soft drinks before moving on to eat at Abeno near Charing Cross Road.

Again, with due Lenten observance we went there as it is basically a Japanese fast food outlet although, on this occasion, it took them a long time to produce our order.

Okonomyaki - the Japanese pancake or pizza, perhaps a tad too delicious for Lent but we had to eat something.

One of the highlights of the evening for me was Catherine describing how she and her eldest sister attended an OF Mass recently (no EF being available).
Both girls went to receive Holy Communion wearing mantillas and kneeling to receive. Apparently, the priest and most of the congregation gave them funny looks but, as a father it did my heart good to hear how these two beautiful young women (my words) had the courage to do the right thing.
And such acts do take courage, believe me.

Quite a day. One with so many highlights. Praying outside an abortuary is something I find strangely uplifting; I don't quite know why.

Attending a glorious Mass.

Meeting up with Catherine and Lord Yns Mon and, yes, the Okonomyaki was pretty good also.

The cry of an aborted child

This poem came to light recently courtesy of my nephew who found it hidden among the usual family documents.

It was written in 1969 by my late brother John who was a great influence on my own Catholic faith and whose example probably was the main guide to my own orthodoxy.

John wrote the poem following a newspaper report (22nd May 1969) regarding an aborted baby crying out while on its way to the incinerator - a thought that is hard and abhorrent to contemplate.

So, on the first day of the 40 Days for Life, on behalf of my nephew, Michael, I dedicate this to those attending vigils being held throughout the world.

Hear me O God.  Hear.
From the depths of my condemned cell I cry.
None will hear me but You because You see,
I have no vote.
I did not murder nor did I steal or wound.
Yet I am held here helpless before the sterile steel.
Or the poisoned needle.
A death too brutal for murderers is a death
reserved for me.
No comforting breast nor loving Mother's arms await me.
My body will be given to be burned.
What have I done? I have not earned
this sordid unlamented end.
In sin was I conceived. Unwanted I die
before I shall be born.
O when the metal enters my brain,
when I shall kick my last convulsive agony,
take me, take me to Your arms.
None will console me, none cherish me.
None hear my last suffocated
shriek from the traitorous womb.
Save You, save only You.
O love me God.

John Francis Collins RIP

Please help this poem gain coverage in the hope that it may reach into the hearts of the politicians, doctors, nurses and others who are involved in this barbaric practice.

Welcome to BPAS your friendly abortion provider

You won't see this picture on the BPAS website

The BPAS website is a gem of wholesome, nursey type guidance and advice.

Little would you suspect that what the kind Doctor and gentle nurses want to do is kill the infant in your womb, cut up the body and remove it piece by piece ready for a dignified ceremony known as 'Burial by flushing away'.

The preparation procedures for an abortion are described in the sort of language one might find if you picked up your Great Aunt's copy of  The Lady magazine; refined, restrained and....ermm...discreet?

Here is an extract from their advice as to what the day holds for the woman who is intent on putting herself through this procedure................I've had to zip up the colour of the copy as what I have shown as blood red is, in fact, pink on their site and the blue is a pastel shade also. So calming, pastels. My comments in green.

Can I bring someone along with me? (Well, an infant in your womb would be useful)
We’re happy for you to bring someone along if it helps you. If you are going to have a procedure where you are put to sleep or under sedation, it is advisable to have someone with you who can take you home. Space is a little limited though, so please make sure it’s only one person.
There aren’t any facilities for children (but, I thought that all of the facilities were for children all those shiny scalpels and probes and things) at our clinics so please make arrangements for childcare if necessary.
If you are under 16 (now I'm getting confused; one minute you say 'no children allowed' and then you say you are treating children)
You will need an adult (someone who is 18 or over) to escort you home after your treatment. We are happy for a female adult (this is nothing less than discrimination, what about the poor father, doesn't he have a support role?) to stay with you throughout your treatment with us.

Training midwives in the dark art

The dark art being, of course, abortion.

It would seem unthinkable that a woman (most midwives are women) who has dedicated her career to aiding the safe delivery of a baby and the pre and post natal care of the mother, should even contemplate the act of abortion let alone become an abortionist.

But that is what an American organisation called Ipas is doing, recruiting and training midwives to become destroyers of life.

Here is their proud claim to fame:-

characters from www.notebaja.org
Is this the most evil computer game in the world?

Since 2001, Ipas has trained more than 10,000 midwives in abortion and
postabortion care because we believe that midwives are an integral part of
reproductive health care. From Nepal to Nigeria, these trained midwives contribute
to better maternal health and fewer deaths from unsafe abortion

Ipas has also developed what they call an "innovative computer game" designed to guide a young woman through the stages beginning with a missed period and culminating in termination - end game!

If you have the stomach to read their glib copy, you can find out about the "game" HERE

It is only a question of time before such "initiatives" are made freely available in Britain.

BPAS has some guidance on the issue using what must be the most inappropriate wording possible, for example, when discussing manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) the process whereby, in the early stages of pregnancy, the infant is hoovered out of the womb, they describe as being a "gentle hand-operated" process. Weasel wording if ever was.

Here is part of their sales pitch:-

"Can appropriately-trained nurses safely carry out abortion procedures?
Yes. Forty years ago when the Abortion Act was drafted, today’s modern, less invasive early abortion methods were not available and the nursing role was much more restricted. Nurses already carry out several modern early abortion procedures including early medical abortion (the ‘abortion pill’ method), but can’t prescribe the medicine for this, due to the restrictions of the present law2. Manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) is a method of early surgical abortion (offered from 4 weeks’ to 12 weeks’ gestation), which removes the pregnancy using a gentle hand-operated suction pump3 and does not require full anaesthesia. The level of technical skill required to do this is of a similar level to fitting a contraceptive ‘coil’ (IUD/IUS) which BPAS’ and NHS family-planning trained nurses already routinely do, but because of the specifications of the 1967 law, appropriately-trained abortion nurses are not able to offer this to women".

The moves to train midwives to destroy rather than save may backfire on the likes of BPAS as, in general, I do believe that the British public have a rather traditional view of the midwife as a homely, maternal sort of character who orders up gallons of hot water before skilfully delivering a healthy baby and slapping it on the back.

The actress, Miranda Hart has aided this image of wholesome goodness in her series 'Call the midwife' - it would be hard to imagine the television viewing public being similarly enamoured if she was to start killing life in the womb rather than delivering a bonny baby.

Kudos to Forty Days for Life!

This organisation and the others who took part in the crusade that has just ended are to be congratulated on their quiet but firm spiritual approach to campaigning against abortion and the effects that it carries with it to those who participate and especially to those women who undergo this treatment.
We were providentially fortunate in being able to join the Melbourne group but, it would have been a real spiritual challenge to face the venom of the demonic in Bedford Square when Bishop Alan Hopes led the group in prayer.

The location was the BPAS abortuary in London's Bedford Square.

And the acronym BPAS? What does it stand for?

THE HOUSE OF HORRORS

BEHIND THESE SEEMINGLY INNOCENT DOORS, FOUL MURDER IS BOTH PLANNED AND CARRIED OUT. HERE IN A LEAFY, PLEASANT SQUARE IN THE CENTRE OF LONDON, BABIES ARE BEING SLAIN ON A DAILY BASIS.

ONLY 50 PER CENT OF THE PATIENTS WHO
ENTER HERE WILL COME OUT ALIVE!

My wife and I joined the 40 Days for Life vigil outside the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) offices (26 Bedford Square) last Friday. They cannot even come clean with their name; it's not pregnancy advice, it's abortion advice, how to get rid of the infant in your womb.
There were not many of us. A total of six volunteers, including ourselves, came and went within the space of two hours. The organisation is in dire need of more cover from more volunteers so please, even if you only have 30 minutes to spare, sign on here and call by. It is always an unnerving experience standing up in public and proclaiming your beliefs. Praying the rosary and other prayers out loud for all to see and gawp at calls on our convictions. But, of course, that is part of the point, it is the Sacrament of Confirmation kicking in and giving us the moral courage to do such things and it is also seeing the courage of the 40 Days 'formal' volunteers and those from the Good Counsel Network that is so very inspirational. These people do this routinely but, I suspect, with the same difficulties that we 'informal' volunteers suffer.

Some 10 or 12 women entered the abortuary, none accompanied by husbands or boyfriends. A similar number of males came and went independently. Some took the leaflets offered by the volunteer at the door, others politely demurred. Meanwhile, we recited our decades, chanted our litanies and said the Angelus at 12 noon.
We left with a sense of relief (standing still on one spot for too long) and a modest sense of accomplishment; an ambition realised at last, a good cause supported.

I could not help but feel, however, that more Catholics should be taking part. Is abortion now such a by word that the man or woman in the pew no longer recoil from it? Has the destruction of life in the womb become totally socially acceptable? Where are the priests, the Bishops, the nuns and the brothers? Well, to be fair, some were at the alternative vigil outside the Marie Stopes abortuary in nearby Whitfield Street.
I hesitate to offer criticism when such a good cause is the subject but, why have two sessions running at the same time? I am at a bit of a loss as to comprehending just who the varying Catholic/Christian pro life groups are. SPUC of course is well known but how do Mary Stops Abortion, The Good Counsel Network and The 40 Days for Life initiative relate to on another? Could they, perhaps, work together more closely?

There is a Brighton based secular group who also do excellent work. They are confrontational in terms of displaying graphic images, the jury appears out on this delicate issue - are shock tactics (realism) good or bad?
But they do appear to be ultra organised, here is a snippet from their update email service:
We are planning to hold the first of our central London displays on Tuesday the 29th of March.  (Timings to be confirmed)

The abortion providers like to portray themselves as moderate, professional and caring organisations.  We want their neighbours to see what "Reproductive Health" looks like.  We will be taking large banners depicting the beauty of life and the brutality of abortion to their doors.  We can't do that without your help.

We need:
Someone who can drive the team to London from the Brighton area (fuel/parking and congestion will be paid for)
Camera person
Banner holders
Counsellors
Post-abortive women
Donors to help pay for fuel/parking and congestion charge as well as other expenses!!

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are able to help.

Ends/................

This is not meant as a sniping comment, I am a believer in learning from the success of others. One thing is absolutely crystal clear.......MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! There are 34 more days to go...please do it!

One last point, when doctors or nurses who carry out abortions are at dinner parties or other social events and their neighbour leans across to ask:
"What do you do for a living?"
How do they frame their answer?
